The Story

What makes you feel passionate, exhilarated, and motivated to learn? For me, it was Philotimo. A word that has no direct English translation because it represents an image that cannot be expressed strictly through words. It is the representation of an honorable person who fervidly pursues their passions while considering the world around them while benefiting others before one's self. Once I dove deeper into the meaning behind the word I devoted my aspirations to becoming a philotimo person (to the best of my abilities). As a young High School student, dreaming of changing the world through contributing in scientific and medical breakthroughs, it seemed impossible. Though I have no let my age get the best of me and I shall embark on the journey of conducting and sharing my research while learning about different perspectives on society and science as we know it.
